Just as the topic says. I am used to MK3's, I just bought a 2001 GTi. It seems like I redline alot quicker. Is it just me? Or did they change the gear ratio's? TIA

VR6, I have a 95 Jetta GLX. And used to drive a 96 Cabrio 2.0 and also had a 92 Corrado SLC.

I just got my new MkIV. My old car was a MkIII 2.0.
I found the only reason I'm redlining quicker is because I'm accelerating quicker

Sorry I dont have the gear ratios. I know I've seen them on here though.

mkiv vr's have the following: (stick)
3.389 final
3.625 1st
2.071 2nd
1.474 3rd
1.038 4th
0.844 5th

I'd post in the mkiii forum for it's figures.
You have to remember as well that Mkiv's have a better power curve (not peak but net(area under the curve)) due to the variable intake.
