Hey all, My first post, but I pretty serious one at that. I am in the process of buying a 1998-2000 A4 Quattro, and can't make up my mind which car to buy, the 1.8T or the 2.8. Many people have said that the 1.8T is the way to go, but I just can't bring myself to buying a car for 20K that is not a V6 and has no leather. Also, how much is a reasonbale price to pay for a 1999 Used Assured 1.8T A4, with the cold and sport package, with around 34K on it. Any and all comments from experts and current owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

well if you plan to mod the motor the 1.8T is the only way to go

The one I am looking at has a chip in it. the dealer wants 21k for it. Its a 1999 1.8T, Silver, SPort/Cold, Quattro of course. Any other pointers as far as pricing is concerned would be helpful. Thanks

it never occurred to me that I spent more than $20k on a car without a V6 or leather.. hmmm
of course, I probably won't give it much thought, considering it's the best car I've ever owned (far surpassing my previous Mustang in performance and amenities).. and it doesn't hurt that chicks TOTALLY dig it

you want the 99.5 if you're looking at 99's.. many new goodies that make it closer.
I checked out a 99.5 laser red (no sport 15's) quattro it was like $19K ASking price with 19K miles on it.
I bought a new one, warranty, good stuff. you get railed so hard on the financing rate of a used car, paying 4%apr for used didn't make it worthwhile.
