The new A4 is incredible. I am trying to talk my wife into one for her new car. She is currently fixated on Volvos but I think a test drive will set her straight.
Anyway just curious on people who bought the new A4. Does it work well as a family hauler for kids in the backseat. Is the backseat roomy enough for child seats? Is the trunk size and storage adequate enough. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated

Re: audi a4 roominess for family? (zolik)

Well, personally, I deal with 4 full sized adults in a jetta all the time, so the A4 is great. Also, compare it to the volvos in its class, not only does it cost less, but the Audi has the most cargo capacity in its class http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

The new A4 has more than enough space for family. The trunk size should fit most of your belongings with space to spare, while child seat should fit on the back seat no problem.

As long as everyone is relatively short. I'm 6'2" and sat in the new A4 at a recent car show. With the drivers seat adjusted for me, there was absolutely no leg room in back. Kind of disappointing as I'm trying to find a decent car that can fit 4 people.

I tend to agree there. I'm only 5' 9" and there isn't tons of room back there. I drove down to Seattle (to watch the Mariners) with 2 buddies who were 6' and 5' 10" and the taller guy sat in the front. The guy in the back never looked completely comfortable and mainly sat sideways or in the middle with 1 leg behind me and 1 behind the passenger.
If you and you're wife are both say 5' 6" or shorter then yeah there's lots of room. If you're 5' 11" or taller then I'd say not much room and it's a matter of opinion in between there.
The guy I bought the car from was about 6' 1" and he had the seat cranked so far back that there's no way anyone could have sat behind him.

Hey, as long as your passengers have legs just a bit smaller than a #2 lead pencil, you should be golden. Seriously, for kids, you'll be fine. Good luck with the new scoot!!!!

We have a 99.5 A4. It had enough room for our son when we bought it. Now almost 3 years later he's 14 & barely fits in the back. Trunk space is great as is front seat space. I haven't tried out a new 02 A4, but plan to. My wife wants a new 1.8T. I hope my son fits in the back of the new one.

I tried one two days ago. I am 6'5 and in the back there is no room left. I have a passat, and it's a lot bigger. On the other hand the trunk is almost as big as the passat trunk. Another nice thing is that when you lower the back seat, the opening is as big as the trunk is.
Other than this, the car is marvelous. I'm going to change my Integra with one of this in a couple of months. Maybe the avant ...
