Audi of America's head Johan de Nysschen spoke to automotive journalists at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. yesterday. I was able to attend, and recorded the entire speach. In it, de Nysschen made some very interesting points, as well as showing his more humorous side and tackling subjects as ranging as Unintended Acceleration to why Audi is more successful than Lexus. The Audi executive also made a very interesting note on the topic of diesel.
After being asked during the Q&A session what his plans were for diesel in America, de Nysschen said "you put me in a difficult situation". He went further to say that he was not prepared to make an announcement about diesel, because an official announcement of diesel is planned for the L.A. Auto Show, press days for which are coming up at the end of this month.
Expect a transcript of this speach to be available on Fourtitude shortly.
