Audi TT Turbo in our cars?

684 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Gary H
A VW tech told me that I could put the Audi TT turbo in my car and with appropriate programming I'd have around 250 hp. I don't recall every reading about that on here unless the TT turbo is just the KO4 or one of the other turbos mentioned frequently on here. Anyone?

It's a K04, and you need to get a different version of the K04 than the one in the TT 225...it's got a different exhaust manifold.

Hmm... didn't mention anything about exhaust manifold. I'll ask about that. Thanks.

Do a search for K04 and you will find tons of info. It's discussed here often and many members have them installed. Cost is about $850-900 for the bolt-on K04 for our cars.

The K04 is fine if you're willing to wait to get the RIGHT software for it. It has not been easy for tuners to put high boost on a K04 in a Mk4. It's not a problem developing software for the TT, but very challenging on the Mk4's. I've been testing different versions with UP for many months and the latest one (only been in couple days) is proving to be very, very good so far. Will continue to do testing as ECU learns new program.
If I had to do this all over again...I probably would not have gone to the K04, but just stayed with the chipped K03....then gone to the bigger aftermarket unit in another year or so. But UP has continued to go back to rewriting files as we give them results. It's beginning to pay off....just takes a lot of patience.
You will only generate those kinds of hp if you have larger dp/catback to help out.
Mind you, I like the K04 for its price and decent power....you can suprise some pretty decent running stock V8 cars out there too. But someday, it will have to depart.

I agree with Sheep. The K04 is a lot of money and pain in the butt if you do the install yourself, for relatively little gain. GIAC has had a K04 program for quite a while, it runs 1.3 bar (20 psi or so) but it may only be for AWD engines. Not sure. It's a personal call, but I would wait on the K04 because there are a bunch of kits just coming on the market with MUCH better turbos and some serious power.

Why stop with just the Turbo?
