There's some kind of wire coming off the ignition switch that lets the stereo turn off by just pulling the key out. I think it's a yellow wire if memory serves. Mine was like this when I bought it. Very cool feature. One of the interesting little things I love about my Fox.
ok never mind i just ram my amp right off my battery... and i put a switch on thw wire so i can turn off my amp if i dont want 2 hear it and i also put a switch on my head unit ... the only problem is then you cant set the time or have preset stations but who cares as long as ur battery aint dien right! lol
tjax is right thats the correct way to have it wired up while it doesn't turn off when the key is in the off position it turns off when you pull the key this is nice cause you can have the HU on with out all the ignition crap like fuel pump ecu and what not..... this type of thread has be rehashed time and time again a HU is not hard to hook up and hook up so that it functions properly if problems hooking it up still persist you should either remove it all together or take to someplace like a speedshop so it gets done right
I had my deck running directly off the batter so I needed no keys to listen to it I also had the amp wired to the deck so when the power on the deck is off so is that amp. Some people won't like it this way but I love it. Great for those lazy night when your just "relaxing" don't feel like getting your keys out of your pocket.
Mine is set so that I have to turn it off manually, but it doesn't drain my battery unless I forget to turn it off and I have the amp trigger wire run to the power antenna feed (Not like I'll ever use it) that are on most head units so that the amp turns on and off with the deck.
