cheers peeps,
been following this forum for a while, while i get over the loss of my beloved Alfa. Replaced her with a black/tan GOfl GL Aus spec (read 1.6, zero fandangled bits)
you all seem to be 2.0L or 1.8T chicks.. and i was wondering if anybody had the goss on how to make my lil 1.6 zing a bit more.. like the alfa used too.. where can I start with mods for more grunt and and quicker revs

Another aussie on the vortex! Welcome!
As to how to make your 1.6L go vrooom vrooom ... can't help you much in that department. You could fork out mega $$$ on a turbo, but by the time your shopping list is complete you would have been better off going for the 2.0L or the 1.8T.

Re: Aussie Golf (kaput_gti)

eh .. hej, Hi

methinks your onto it.. i should have forked out the poines for a GTi. Now if i trade the bugger (Oct 2000) for a GTi .. i have the vexed question of going back to Alfa an getting a 156.
but the VW has seduced me with oh.. simple things like build quality, and a really good interior that *poop* not only works, but makes sense!
*is torn*
just how fast are those funky GTi's .. maybe a V6 bora ?

Re: Aussie Golf (craig_m5)

G'day.
I am also a fellow Aussie with a Golf GL. I really like the Golf GTI but it was too expensive for a first car. The only mod I have done so far to my Golf is debadge the car (it looks like a GTI now). Because my Golf is a 'Generation' model, it came with a rear spoiler, sports seats, darkened tail lights and 15 inch alloys.
If you do find out a cheap way of improving the performance of the 1.6L engine then please give me a yell!
