Automatic goes out, 5 speed goes in!!

On an 86 FWD 5000 Turbo. We are at the point now where we've cut the floor board got the pedal brackets installed, run the hydraulic lines and set up the throttle linkage. We've run into some difficulties, and I'll explain those when I have time, but I was just wanting to see if there's any interest in this sort of procedure and if anyone is doing it that has any questions, feel free to ask.

Question for you: Why? Wasn't the FWD 5000T offered with a 5 speed? My go through all the expense and trouble when you could buy one that has what you're looking for?

Yes it was, but when you already own an 86 and the tranny craps out and you like the car, you either replace the tranny for $2000 with another crap Automatic, or you swap in a 5 speed and have the makings of fast car.
The guy who's car this is - is paying us to do this swap and paying for all the necessary parts.

You might want to talk to Mike Tipton, he did the auto to manual swap in an Audi 90.

Cool, it's good to see that we're not pioneering this procedure. We got the tranny in yesterday after pulling that "hat" that was pressed into the end of the crank so we could put the needle bearing in there. We then hooked up the linkage and it has to be the tightest shifting Audi 5000 ever. Holy cow, the shifts are smooth and precise. I'm going to tighten them up on my car once I get this one out of the garage.
