My bud and I were checking this out.
You can get a warranty that basically covers everything except for rotors, pads, and clutch for around $1200 up to 100k miles. This is for most cars MY 01-02.
Also includes Roadside asistance and all that good spleef.
I don't know much about 3rd party warranties, does anyone think they are worth it?
Looks like it would be a good idea if you were to buy a used WRX or something.

I bought a 3rd party warranty once, only used it once for about $200 worth of repairs. I dunno, kind of a waste of money IMHO. But on a vehicle that has AWD/turbo, might be a wise investment incase something goes wrong. I know someone here had a G60 syncro Passat in which he made excellant use of the extended warranty
