As we all found out, (some the hard way) the dealer is requiring a VIN number when ordering parts. This is the way I did it...
Go to http://www.autotrader.com
Look for a used 2000 2.0 for sale, either Golf or Jetta. You will find that all the dealer listings have the VIN number listed online. This will also give you other good info to know like the tranny, mileage, etc.
Then, go to your fav online parts store. I picked http://www.1stvwparts.com. They are also a vortex sponsor
Input the part nuber and make sure you pick the right option of the 2.0. The search resluts list five different kinds of cars. The MAF list at ~37 bucks. Also, they have a field for the VIN number and describtion of the car. This avoids any confusion and messy back and forth emails. I recieved the MAF a couple days later for less then 45 bucks shipped and 5 minutes of my time. I didn't have to search any parking lots or any of that.
PS... I am sure some of you figured this out, but I wanted to share.
