Hey guys, what's up?
I’m looking forward to replace my worn out front brake rotors/pads. What way should I go: cross-drilled or OEM? I use the car for everyday driving, and I would like to have little better brakes than I have now. I was wondering if they (cross-drilled rotors) are really making any difference at all? Do they have any disadvantages?? What brand name to select?? I didn't find Cross-drilled Brembo's for my year (1993) and I don't know who else produces it. I don't have extra money to upgrade the brakes to bigger size, but I had read lot of good response about SS lines and I'm going thing about it too. So, let me know please, what is worth and how much $$ I have to put on that.
Thanks in advance.

Ps. Sorry for my English

germanautoparts.com
ATE slotted rotors up front, OEM rotors in rear
Mintex red box pads all around
Great reliable braking. None of the "performance" brake system rubs/grumbles/screeching. And rather inexpensive.
You can have them press in the rear bearings into the rotors if you'd like.
Brake lines available also.

All right,
thank you for the good source. But I’m still wondering to know: is there a difference between ATE slotted and Zimmerman cross-drilled except for the price?? If I agreed to pay little bit more, should I go for drilled??
Thank you again

haha!
I *JUST* received that package from Germanautoparts.com!
I got the ATE slotted fronts and the solid rears (I liked them on my Rabbit...), with the Mintex pads.
I also ordered wheel bearings (fr & rr), tie rod ends & ball joints. I'll be installing them with Koni adjustables, H&R springs, and 16" MM Spiders with 225/40 Kuhmos.
I'm super excited to tear into this car and 'transform' it in one weekend!
Not to mention, I think that'll cure me of suspension problems for a long while...

Personally I would just stick to stock rotors and upgrade the pads, brake lines and use some ATE superblue fluid. I don't think the vents make that big of a difference because usually when we feel fade it's because the fluid is boiling. I've gone through two sets of ATE powerslots and they both warped in under 10,000 miles. I am hard on the but I use high performance pads that are supposed to be very easy on the rotors compared to the others. In my opinion it's not worth it for that extra little bit of performance. Go for good pads like high performance Hawk pads or the DS2000 if you don't mind the dust. That will be a world of a difference right there.

I have EuroRotor slotted discs all around and Hawk HPS brake pads up front... Nice combo, brakes very well!! Now I just need to do the SS lines and fluid upgrade. They do squeal a bit when the car is slowly moving and light brake pressure is applied, but it's never annoying. The slotted discs also groan a little sometimes, but it's not as bad as some drilled ones I've heard!!
For street I'd go for stock or slotted rotors. Crossdrilled are good for the track where discs get worn down and thrown away before they get a chance to crack around the holes!!! A brake pad upgrade will probably make a bigger difference than anything else. The Hawks are really good, not dusty at all!! And they have great cold performance so you dont get scared on that first stop on a frosty morning!!! Then, when they heat up you can really fell them bite!
