I haven't done that job yet, sorry. But you'll have to remove the intake manifold, so have a gasket for that as well as the VC gasket. Be extra careful disconnecting the PCV breather, it may fall apart in your hands. You may have read the other threads regarding that part.

Re: b4 Vavle Cover Questions?? (TheGentleArt)

I was told the same thing, I've got a bit of oil that comes up from the cover http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif in the general area to the front of the oil cap (between the cap and the ignition wires closer to the front bumper).
I'll let you know what I find out, could you also post anything you find when you find out what you need?

Thanks and best luck
Abe

Anyone with an update on how to do this or what a shop will charge to do it for you?

Thanks!

Re: b4 Vavle Cover Questions?? (jbrams)

I was quoted prices between $150-$320.
some said it was two gaskets (it's one) and wanted to charge extra hours for it (obviously, they are off my list of potential mechanics).
It shoud be less than three hundred, more than two probably. 2 hours according to their book, plus about $30 in parts.
Labor around here is $90 http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

PS - I also picked up a new oil cap at the dealer for $4 just in case it was getting spewed out of there and then spreading around (suggested by the most experienced and highly recommended mechanic I talked to, cleaned the whole area and the oil cap with brake cleaner and told me to do the same a few times after driving it around . . . it the oil stops appearing then the problem was the old/bad gasket on the oil cap, if not . . . well, I just hope it's just the cap
)
