Very nice!

A tip from someone who bought a car that sat for years: Open the gas tank and check it inside. They can rust in there, and that will cause endless grief! New aftermarket tanks are still available.
Ya already changed both pumps and filter to get it going. So far I see a coating of black brown gooo substance but no rust yet. The sender wa s covered with it

My plan is , despite this one actually tuning well, to remove the cise and retrofit the aeg's management . Motronic 5.9.2 obd2 found in early mk4's. Basically the last and most modern drive by cable management vw used. Simple reliable and runs like a modern engine does.

Great find you have there 😎

I really like the wheels, you have put on this Scirocco 👍

Where are you located in Canada?

I like this idea. You'll be able to pull codes and diagnose it like a modern engine.

Updatr : I've been struggling to fill the tank. Something up with the tank vent. I tried pushing compressed air in there but there's definitely some sort of restrictions. Gas tank has to come out!

I rescued an 87 GTI 16V. Hadn't started or ran since 1993 and I got it in 2018. First thing I did - called a tow truck and sent it to the VW mechanic! They removed the tank, cleaned it, put it back - flushed all fuel lines, replaced filter, new plugs, etc, gas, battery - fired right up. Never looked back! Did need a new sender and fuel pump also. They wrote on the ticket DO NOT TRY TO START! Oh yeah - also put a new timing belt on it since that's why the original owner parked it. I had the belt.

Nice engine score for your Scirocco. Although if it is a true ABF clone, you will have to move the engine mount points in the engine bay so that you can close the hood, because the ABF is a tall block engine that will sit higher than the low front hood line of your Scirocco body. The Golf/Rabbit, Jetta Mk1 and Mk2 models don't have this problem since there front hood sits higher on body of these cars.

Is that a certainty or your just assuming?. My measurements so far say it fits as is. 16mm diference

I have seen an ABF clone fit in a Mk2 Scirocco before, the head was 9A 16v from an early 90's GTI and an ABA block with pistons from the same 9A 16v. This setup should not have front hood issues, it will sit low in engine compartment for the hood to shut.
