I second Ctek. Proof that they work: I finally changed the battery in my old Sierra that I seldom use. That battery was 14 years old.

Learn me about this.

Since my new GSW purchase my MK4 Golf is sitting in my second driveway. I'll probably not drive it this winter. Our winters can be moderately cold (0-32 degrees F for weeks at a time).

Can't I just take the battery out of the car and store in the unheated garage?
Should I just disconnect the battery altogether and leave it in the car?
Should I take the battery out and store it in the heated basement?

I have a simple battery charger I can hook up come spring time, or do I need a tender to keep it viable?

99% woud be fine with unplugging both terminals of the battery, in a climate controlled space you can keep the battery from freezing.

Otherwise remove the battery and bring it in somewhere warm.

The only thing I use a Tender on is the RV and the neighbors helicopter.

Store it in the heated basement with a tender on it.

Barry recommended a CTEK to me several years ago for the Miata and it hasn't let me down.
