battery type in atlas with start /stop system

1127 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ribbit
I just got this 2020 Atlas with 5,000 miles on clock. Has the start /stop system and I want to know if they install AGM batteries.
Reason for the interest is I will store this car for 3 mos of the yer and want to use a trickle charger to maintain battery. I need to use the proper trickle charger
Thanks

Did you look at the top by chance? My 2019 had EFB+ in large font on top and a window to see if the battery was good or bad.

they're AGM batteries, so any suitable AGM battery maintainer will work.

I use a CTEK on my R32 and really like it, so it's usually what I recommend.

Yea I love my CTEK MXS 5.0. I’d still double check though since I’ve seen VW use EFB+ on my 2019 Tiguan, 2019 Atlas, and my dad’s 2020 Tiguan.

I did look and didn't see any evidence on the battery, but I will ask the dealer to look up the vin # and confirm what's there.
I'll report back.

I see the battery does have a charge circle window that is either black if battery is good yellow when it's not. I've never seen that in a standard battery so it's most probably a AGM. The battery is also sealed so not likely a lead acid battery.

That's an EFB+ battery. Never seen an AGM with that, as the window lets you know if the electrolyte solution in an Enhanced Fluid Battery is still good or not. I replaced my factory battery this month and it had that window. I had an Audi AGM battery in my Tiguan and an Odyssey AGM battery in the Atlas now and glass mat batteries don't have that window.
thanks that helps .
