I met a guy, says he has 15" x 6-1/2 BBS 3 pc rims, came from a Scirocco.
He also has 15" x 7" Zender "Turbine" looking rims, also to fit a Scirocco.
Thoughts on these rims?
I don't know about them, are the 3 pc rims likely to be trouble?

Both types of rims are fairly rare and highly sought after if in good condition.
As long as the BBS's are RS's and not the factory look-alikes (2pc.) they should be no trouble if in good shape.
To verify, check on the face of the BBS wheel near the lug holes for "016" stamped on it.
BBS's 15X6.5" wheel for the Mk1 Scirocco is "016"
15X7" wheel for the Mk2 Scirocco is "047"
15X7" wheel for the earlier 3 Series BMW is "001"
If there is another 3 digit number then they are not Scirocco specific RS's and you should test fit them before buying.
If they do not have this # or any 3 digit # then they are either knock off's (Japanese versions), RM's (VW's 2pc version) or BBS look-alikes by another mfg.
The 3pc. RS's have forged centers and are VERY strong and as long as they haven't been separated they should be leak free.
I have heard rumors that they are very hard to seal if they have been separated.
If you decide not to buy the BBS's and they are in decent shape, could you please e-mail me a way to contact the owner to see if he will sell them.

Re: BBS 3 PC Rims (Sirocco)

How things work out when you get there!
These were 2 pc rims

I was sure I heard 3 pc.
The numbers cast in are RM 012 ET33
Also, 191 801 025 with the VW logo underneath.
Also, cast in are BBS lettering.
I bought them anyways, they look great.
Small problem, with the ( I believe Girling ) calipers, the caliper on y 78 Scirocco just wants to hit the back of the rim.
How about brake upgrades, to different calipers.
Any ideas on a good path to take?

RMs are still good looking wheels, but yes, 2 piece. You can get wider front lips through Kodiak (search these forums)... a friend has them on his Mk3 Jetta, extended to 8"... the extra dish looks killer.
Just get some 5mm spacers, that'll fix your brake clearance issue. FK sells them for supa cheap, also.

Re: BBS 3 PC Rims (-camber)

Thanks for the advice, I don't really like the idea of spacers, but, I used them years ago on my 68 beetle.
Dodge bolt patterns match VW, and I got some freeby tires and rims from a 68 Dart that was being scrapped. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Car looked great with them on. Wish I still had it too.

Guess I'll pick up a set of spacers and keep checking out brake swaps, I still don't like the brakes on the car.
