Do belt tensioners go bad on VR6 engines? I have 120,000 miles on my engine and after changing my water pump for the second time after a 6 month faliure for the first one, I notice a very high pitched whinning sound. Now I got a bad rattle out of this pump, and it just started leaking yesterday, so I have to change it again, this will be my 3rd pump. Okay my question is do I get a new tensioner, or can I use a bolt to adjust the belts tension, and how do I know how much slack to give it? Or do I just buy a new tensioner? Which I hate to see how much they are?
Anyone else have these problems, or should I just finally throw in the towel and sell my Corrado and get a 4 cyclinder VW and save gas money, since gas prices will never come down again anyway.

Re: Belt tensioner, VR6 (Green93SLC)

you can/should replace the pulley if you can find a yarrowsport or adrenalin floating around. If you cant, take it apart and grease or replace the bearing.
The pulleys themselves go bad, but the tensioner shouldnt I think
