Hi,
I am a new member to the forum and I am looking at getting a 02 GTI 1.8T. I have seen a few people with Ottawa as their home town and I was wondering what Dealership I should head to. I heard that Hunt Club is good from a friend who bought a 01 Jetta but I figured I should ask you guys. Thanks.

Re: Best Dealership in Ottawa, Ontario (rogueprogrammer)

Check out Jack MacDonell Motor Sales in nearby Cornwall, Ont (632 Pitt St.) They are a family owned VW dealership with an excellent reputation. Ask for Glen. He's a verirtable encyclopedia of VW lore. Their prices are much better than what you'll find around Ottawa. First of all, they don't charge an "Admin" fee (a $175.00 savings). Secondly, the freight and PDI is $100 less than it is for Ottawa. Thirdly, they are able to give better overall discounts too (I received a further $1,500 off of the MRSP of my new 2002 1.8T GTI that I ordered thru them. Try getting that kind of discount out of an Ottawa dealership. Of course I plan to have my car serviced at Ottawa dealerships, but it didn't mean I had to buy it from any of them!

Glen MacDonnell at Jack MacDonnells in Cornwall is the guy to see...gave me a sweet discount off a 2K2 VR6, exluded all the dealer BS and is just a good guy to deal with. I've been dealing with them for 16 years and no issues at all.
Also, doesn't try and charge the scammy admin fee, document fee, advertising fee, and whatever other "other name for more profit fee you can think of".
