If you have pillar airbags, do the 3 gauge panel in the dead space above the radio.

if you have a-pillar airbags, you can use one of these...

the only problem is it sounds like you want to mount more than one...

well, if you decide you like this, i'm doing a gb on them for $65 off without the gauge, or $40 off with a VDO boost gauge. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=240193

i saw a post that said A-pillar pods worked okay w/ the airbags, they even posted some pics of exploded air bags, it looked good to me, i would only mount one or two pods, no more than that, but i dunno, do a search for guages.

You really wanna risk installing 4-6 ozs of metal and glass that close to something rigged with EXPLOSIVES?
Suit yourself.
Better bookmark this just in case...

"You really wanna risk installing 4-6 ozs of metal and glass that close to something rigged with EXPLOSIVES?"
oh, man... not this argument again. the pods are safe down there (i probably wouldn't put a double pod in, but a single one should be fine.) only the top 5 inches or so of the pillar cover open up. how would the gauge gly off (not to mention that there's no way for it to fly back at your face being that the top opens. if anything, it would push it down and away kind of like how a wave pushes a surfer...
i'm sure they wouldn't sell them for cars with airbags if they weren't sure it was okay. can you imagine how bad just 1 lawsuit would be?? look at the mcdonalds coffee lady!

Like I said before, "suit yourself"
Things like probably and should be OK are not words I want to hear when dealing with airbag deployment.
Unless you've gone and tested it (with installed gauges) you can't say it's safe. You can't. Period. Talk angles and direction all you want. Doesn't matter.
It's not an acceptable risk IMO. I hope for your sake (and those who do this) that they'll never find out. And if they do, that I'm wrong.

Jman makes a good point. My father-in-law is an ER physician and you would be surprised how many people severely break their face (not just the nose) because they had one hand on the steering wheel in the 12 o'clock position when their airbag deployed. When that thing goes off your wrist bone/forearm/hand is flying VERY quickly at your face. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you might as well be in the ring with Frasier or Ali, sans gloves.
