Re: Best VW mechanic in Northern Puget Sound? (Just say Mo)

I asked Matt Johnson at Evolution Sports this question the other day and he couldn't think of one. He recommended a shop in Redmond called Redmond something (I know, I know, big help I am
). I've gone to this mechanic in the Arlington-Marysville area. I haven't had any work done yet but will in the next two weeks or so. I think it's called Gem Autoworks but I'll find out for sure before this evening and post the phone number.
Flipping thru the phone book, I have found these (I have not heard anything about them). They had VW listed in their list of "specialties":
Audi Monroe Repair (Audi and VW service) in Monroe: 360.863.9696
German Autowerke in Edmonds: 425.778.6844
Import Autowerks in Mount Vernon: 360.336.3200
Mayer Auto Service (European Specialist) in Marysville: 360.659.1644
Performance Motors in Lynnhood: 425.775.5670
Beismann Volkswagen in Kenmore: 425.486.9196
G&S Motors Foreign Car Repair in Lynnwood: 425.776.7570
I've dealt with the following but I think they charge way too much:
Bow Wow in Lynnwood and Lake City: 425.672.4366
If anything else, you can go to the dealership.
Hope that helps!

Since you're up on Camano, I'd recommend giving Frontier VW's service department a shot (as you're still under warranty)...I've heard very good things about them, and they are probably the closest to you.

frontier is great their service dept.is great Julie in service will take great care of you and your car http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif besides Evolution frontier is the only shop that touches my cars.
as for GEM auto in arlington I would rather have a monkey work on my car than let those two crack heads touch any of my cars again http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif and the same for Pignataro Volkswagen in Everett http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif too long of a story to get into about GEM and Pignataro, but there are a lot of unhappy customers

Thanks for the leads everyone. I'm hesitant to use the dealerships based on past experiences but I may give Frontier a try.
Has anyone used Conway Motors in Everett?

I would NOT recommend Frontier VW. I had an oil leak, and so I scheduled an oil change and told them about my oil leak, knowing that a new o-ring is included w/the filter on my car. So the oil gets changed, and guess what, still leaks like a sive. At the time I Thought it was a leaky oil cooler. By the end of the week I was 2 quarts low!
I ended up taking my car in to Steves Auto repair ((360) 755-1212) to have my serpentine belt replaced and my oil cooler sealed. WELL, after the car was on the lift they noticed that it was NOT the cooler, but oil was pulsing out of that bad seal that WAS NOT REPLACED by Frontier VW/Chrysler. $8 for new filter/o-ring instead of $250 to seal the cooler
Going back to Frontier that same day I asked them if the Techs start the car to make sure everything is ok and the guy said, um yeah I'm sure they do. I showed him the bad o-ring and they just shrugged me off like oh well kid. They even claimed that they didn't have a record of me telling them I had an oil leak, even though the girl that was with me heard me tell them that. Anyways, back to who is a good mechanic, I'd have to say Matt at Steves automotive is a very good mechanic. He did a lot of work on my 944 when I had it, and it always ran well afterwards. Matt also did my serpentine belt and changed my filter in under an hour. Steves Auto repair is a very good shop in my opinion and definately worth going to. Frontier is http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
