Better AutoX beater?

Im thinking of buying a A1 VW for autocrossing. This will not be for daily transport, just a stipped out little kart that will be on 3 wheels most of the time!
Which would be a better beater?

the 16v a1 wouldnt be competitive. the fsp rabbit, with the right preparation, would.

Im just doing it for fun, i really dont care about being number one. Just something I can beat on.

FSP= Street prepared? I added mk1 scirocco. Hard to come by but beautiful cars! If not rabbit all the way!

I couldn't agree more. If I stumble across an old Scirocco in decent shape, I'm pushing my GTI off the nearest cliff. After I remove all the make it stick parts (it doesn't go fast but it'll handle) that is
