On my 04' .:R32 - it's my understanding that as long as the front/rear wheel-tires are the same size and make the same # of revolutions - you can go wider in the back... will this cause or do anything stressful to the trans-case?
18 x 8.5" front on 225/40
18 x 9.5" rear on 255/35 (maybe 275/35?)
any thoughts? suggestions?

I think every AWD car strongly suggest/requires symmetry between the tires.

It will mess up the handling balance with way too much rear grip.

I have
18 x 8.5" front on 225/40
18 x 10" rear on 255/35
with no issues and it handles great
I know there are links to check to make sure the rolling diameter is within reason for the Haldex, just do some research and you will be fine

IIRC they need to be within 4% of one another to be ok.

Yeah Rolling DIA is no more thn 4% from front/rear.
So normally i wouldnt go with a 10 rear but this is only me
