Re: Bit tacky...but I am still liking it. (.sanya.)

Just so I'm clear, reminds me what gear I'm in when I look down at the shifter to see what gear I'm in...?

how is a knob intelligent enough to know what gear its in?

It's not, you run through the gears and it remembers the position.
I would however wonder how it gets reverse in our cars.
Probably the same way it does in a 6 speed
ya no ****, i'm just saying
I didn't like the original design. I don't like this design.
If you don't know what gear you're in, you shouldn't be driving.
I did however see a P crest on a camry, just a sticker on the window, and thought about you

call me old fashioned, but i usually know what gear i'm in by feeling the response of the car in its relation to its RPM's and speed. a digital readout is overkill, one more distraction you dont need while driving.
such technology should be reserved for automatic transmission users in cluster displays.

I'm with Pete on this one
j/k...I'm one to talk though, I can count on probably one hand how many times I've actually driven my car since living in CA. It will be sad to see it go finally!

I'm pretty sure that it says on the website that those aren't calibrated to work with shifters that have an "left and up" reverse gear lockout.

I'm not a huge fan of the piece, but I concede to it being a cool concept and perfectly at home on certain cars...including The Cosgrove. However, I find fault in peoples' agruements against it being very functional on our cars, which most of us build against all functionality. I'm sure purpose driven cars and car builders think most VW guys are just plain dumb for the amount of time and money we spend on doing stuff to our cars that make them harder to drive and harder to maintain on a daily basis.
