can any of u guys tell me what that black box under the 1992 GTI in the rear by the brake lines is for or what it does??

Are you talking about the one infront of the pass. side rear wheel? If so that is the fuel pump and small resevoir. The transfer pump (in tank pump) pumps fuel into this smaller resevoir and a main pump (the one next to the black resevoir) pumps it to the injectors.
