Is anyone sorry they purchased their Passat with a black interior?
We're faced with waiting for a grey interior to become available or go with black. We live in the cool Pacific Northwest and except for a few weeks a year I'm not sure I'd regret it.

Re: Black interior? (Just say Mo)

I have black leather interior and it is AWESOME!
I live in Ohio, so it's going to get a little hot in the summer, but I plan on using a sun screen. This is my second car with black interior, and believe it or not, it is very easy to keep clean............well, except for the floor mats!

I have the black leather interior. No problems. In Minneapolis it is in the 80's and 90's in the summer. The interior isn't too warm. When it is in the 90's, I use the rear sunshade. In the winter, the heated seats are a life saver. Any color interior in the winter will be cold in Minneapolis!

I see no reason you'd regret the black interior (unless it's black cloth and you have severe lint phobia issues). You live in a sane (read: not hot) climate, so that's good. On lighter colored cars, I think the contrast of a black interior is rather classy (in a Euro-centric sort of way).

i've got the black leather, and am loving it. i've only had the car for 2 days, and it's been cold as sin, so heat issues haven't been a problem. also, i'm planning on tinting the windows which should alleviate some of that problem. i'd say go with the black...it is flat out awesome!

Lov'n my black leather. It's one of the main reasons I went with the Passat. It's got a great texture and a deep satin black versus a shiny black like a Infinity I30 I looked at.

I'm in hot Houston and the black leather is cooler in the summer than beige leather in an Accord I had. Looks great too! Can't go wrong with the black leather in the Passat http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Can't say much about the leather, but I am happy so far with the black cloth. Of course, it's winter in Fresno (kind of) so when the triple-digit summer hits next May I'll know for sure. But you could have a white car with white, reflective interior and it'd get hot here. It's not really black, more a dark gray. I haven't noticed any extra amounts of lint like others but there is a lint grabber from Petsmart that's supposed to work well.

I have the black velour, too, and have had no problems with heat (interior is only warm, much much better than my old Volvo with beige interior, which would be boiling inside and the wheel would be scalding). Lint/hair is noticeable, but manageable. Certainly don't agree (in my experience) with all the horror stories around here about out-of-control lint.

Can't speak for the leather, but I wouldn't imagine that anything would change other than perhaps the leather surfaces would retain more heat and so the seats (and wheel?) might be a little warmer than the velour ones....

I have black leather on my Silver 2002 GLS Passat. Looks very cool.

Beige colour is nice but I am not sure when it gets dirty... Grey interior looks okay but looks old from day one.
Look at Camry. It does not even come with black interior as an option unless you go for SE model. Argh! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
You don't go wrong with Black.

Here's another http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif for the black leather. Only thing I don't like is how quickly the black floormats show dirt. You literally have to vacuum them every week to keep the inside of the car looking clean.

That is a tough decision, here is my insight. First to answer your question, NO. I do not regret choosing black leather - in fact living with it for 3 months has made me very confident in the choice. It is very classy - like a Mercedes. If you are deciding between black and grey cloth I say get black leather!
We live in San Diego and before we tinted the windows the air in the car did get warm when left in the sun for longer than 15 minutes. The seats never got hot, but they could be a little clammy. Anyway, with the tint the car stays very cool and the darkening effect makes the car feel even more upscale than it did. The only drawback to black is that it shows dirt quickly - the kind of stuff that gets tracked in on the bottom of shoes (leaves, sand, etc.)
Grey leather is nice too, but it doesn't contrast well with the silver colors.
