Going to install a block heater in my 82 pickup tommorow. Before I do it, any advice on removing the freeze plug without damaging anything? Any other things to keep in mind to make my job easier? I'm planning on draining the coolant at the freeze plug..bad idea?

Id say use a slide hammer for doing bodywork
screw it in... pop it out
