Re: Block heater? (NineThings)

I have one -- freeze-plug style -- in my Caddy's 16v. When I bought the engine, one freeze plug was kinda cracked, so I took the opportunity to replace it with a block heater.
16vs don't like thin oil, so running a block heater lets me run 15W30 and start smoothly in even the coldest weather (though it rarely gets down to -20C in Toronto). I only plug it in (controlled with a timer) on the really cold nights.
