Buy a 2k1 cabrio gauge cluster. Then you get the real thing and it is much easier. Only $175

Re: Blue dash kit (NSKGTI23)

Can you tell me any more about getting mk4 gauges into an mk3? I love the mk4 red on blue look... would love to get the real thing into my mk3 jetta if it's possible.
Re: Blue dash kit (schlafen)

schlafen,
I've done a comparison of the pinouts of the connectors of mk3 and true mk4 (not cabby) gauge clusters, and it looks like you would have splice in the mkIV connector into your existing wiring, but theres no way to get the multi-function display to work. Also, there's a very good possibility that the speedo and tach get a different type of signal from the tranny/engine.
Plus, there's 2 generations of mkIV clusters that look cosmetically identical, but have different pinouts.
Then you have to figure out a way to get the gauge cluster to fit in the mk3 surround.....

Re: Blue dash kit (98GTi-VR6)

I think Ill order the cabby dash, but for now Im changing the switches for the AC recirculation and rear Defroster to illuminate differently. The lighting at night will remain the green factory color, but Im in process of changing the light on each switch from orange to blue. I thought it would be cool to press the AC button and have it light up a cool blue instead of obnxious orange.
Photos will follow when I finish the project .

OK... I thought it was a long shot... but I had to ask... thanks for your reply... I can go back to researching the mods to my existing dash.

Re: Blue dash kit (veedublvr)

hey, well... the site is down now, but if it comes back up, it has step by step instructions on how to make your interior lights indigo. including your mfa. it takes some time and effort, but it only ends up costing about eight dollars in supplies. http://www.4130products.com/step/gl/
Re: Blue dash kit (veedublvr)

I've done this mod on my B3 Passat.
To do it right, you have to replace every green light in the car with a red one.
I'm in the process of finishing the dash switches, I've finished the window switches (which use LED's)
