Is it just the picture, or does that look really dim? Can you still see at night fine? If you can see fine, that looks great!

From what I can see you have 5 Blue LEDs.
Blue LEDs are usually 3.4V
Your source is 12V.
So if you divide 12 by number of LEDs which is 5.
Then each LED gets 2.4V.
So here is your reason why they aren't that bright.

That is true if he wired in series but the pic looks like they are parallel so they all get the same voltage. (prolly 12v)

Damn, very nice work, lookin' REAL nice.
Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (redrocketrado)

So, how hard is it to change the colors of the lights in the switches to red to complete the look? I know the MK3 guys use new Cabrio switches but we don't have that option.

5 blue ultra bright LEDs wired in parallel with a resistor so they all get the right voltage they are a lot brighter then i n the pic its just really hard to take a pic of the dash lights(try it and see)
They are brighter then the stock lights too and work with the dimmer!
Also i did change the MFA color using some blue plastic but it doesnt do much good since the bulb behind it is out

Once i get the silver guages they needles will be painted orange or red http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I didn't know that they made 12V Blue LEDs. They are usually around 3.4V.
Resistor is only to limit the current. And it is wired in series.
If you don't use resistor, the thing would blow really fast, because it can only take 20mA maximum.
If resistor was in parallel it would be just like a voltage drop.
Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (RedDevil)

It is preatty simple to change MFA colour to blue using LED.
.... I don't know where you guys get 12V blue LEDs, but I can get only 3.4V LEDs.
Anyway if you use normal 3.4V LED with it is going to blow up or explode in matter of seconds. So just to make it work you need basic voltage divider using 2 resistors.
........ I don't know if anyone is interested, but I will try!
anyway!
wire 2 resistors in series.
make first resistor 750ohm and the second 2000ohm
So if you take your voltmeter there should be roughly 3.2V across 750ohm resistor
wire up your LED parallel with that resistor.
And it should work. Make sure mark the polarity.

I changed mine to blue also just by changing the little green film to blue film. I couldn't find the blue stuff at first so I just got one of those transparent blue 3-ring binder for 49 cents and cut it out. It looks essentially like his at night.

Iceman, where did you get the LEDs? are they indeed 12V? No resistor?
Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (fstedie)

if you guys would pay attention, he did say that he used a resistor a few posts back.. besides, where were you guys when he posted about which resistor he should use yesterday??

Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (beenana)

i got the leds from radioshack.com the leds are wired in parallel and the resistor is wired in series(its under the electrical tape) The leds are about $4.50 each.
I will have to try doing the MFA with a led now....
Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (Iceman666)

can you email me...or give a general response on the exact items you needed - parts #'s? I really sound like a horses @$$ don't I? hehe...just trying to get this "stuff"

Re: Blue LED Dash lights!!!!(pics) (Iceman666)

I have an even better question. - How's the chips ahoy?

Looks good.
