Blue wire on MAF???

...i have an obd2 97 jetta vr6 motor...last time i was having problems the stupid mechanic moved the intake around, after fixing the welded wire...now i checked again cuz the way he put t was really stupid, and the wire broke again...its the blue wire on the Mass Air Flow Sensor...i think its blue...can i try and weld it again?...how much, and how hard is it to replace the MAF???...thanks for any info/help...
