just picked up this E36 328i off a friend of mine. for those of you who dont know i have been drifting my 76 bmw 2002 for a couple years now. i am fairly good at slinging it around and its been a ton of fun but it is not a very easy car to drift. so i bought this to replace it from constant drift events. its already been setup a bit for drifting. has had the rear subframe mounts reinforced, BC coilovers, dual caliper hydro E-brake and a bucket seat. i plan on swapping out the bucket seat for a slightly larger one, getting a harness bar and harnesses, some sort of angle kit and some poly suspension bushings. the car came with a replacement bumper, replacement driver side fender, spare wheels and some misc spare parts. this thread is mostly so i can track progress with the car along with what events i have attended. im pretty excited to start sliding a proper chassis

replaced the bumper, installed a harness bar that i bought off of user sage, harnesses installed, removed rear seats and purchased new front grip tires. also purchased a new spal fan to replace the no name fan. picking up drift spares next week and then first drift event on the 22nd

it may one day end up with a turbo

grip tires in the front mounted and a bunch of drift spares acquired. drift event this saturday. i also have atleast 5 days of drifting planned for october

Me too, I’ve wanted an E36 for well over 20 years. Now that I can afford one I’m not sure it’s the best idea, but damn do they still look gorgeous.

wont be nearly as exciting in photos as the 2002 :laugh: however i hope this car will progress me enough to be able to join the A group drivers at clubloose. which means i will be able to do tandem runs with other drivers along with multiple different course layouts including hot laps. thats my goal with this car.

passenger seat harness installed, SPAL fan installed and i swapped out the hydro handle for a villians hydro that i bought for my 240 that i never built. ready for tomorrow

had a awesome time at the drift event today. was a little shaky in the morning getting the feel of the car but by the time i broke it i was doing 70mph+ handbrake entries. but i did end up breaking it. typical e36 i snapped the front dif bolt which broke on a 3rd gear 7000rpm clutch dump and launched the dif nose into the floor and busted the ujoint on the driveshaft. so now i need a new driveshaft and drill out the broken dif bolt. big changes i need to make is a new steering wheel and some new suspension components to get more caster. the steering wheel was extremely slow to self center which made my transitions really rough and caused a lot of spin outs. if any media from the event pops up i'll post them up

found a picture so far from after i ripped the bumper off :laugh: picking up spare axles, 2 driveshaft halfs and 8 tires this weekend along with repairing the diff and adding a bracket to make it much stronger. heading to WV in less than 2 weeks

forgot to mention that they are watching me closely to see how i do with this car to bump me up to A group, which is a huge accomplishment just to have them even consider me as they only allow the best of the best into A group. Clubloose is the regarded as being like the legendary drift courses of japan but for the east coast of the US.
