Shiny silver thing in SE corner of the top of your engine block, it's at the top of the first pic (fuel pressure regulator)

(don't worry about the filter thing)

-20 is about right for vacuum at idle. If you rev the engine it should jump up to around zero. To see how much boost you can push go about 25-30 mph, put it in 3rd gear and floor it. My 2001 AWW engine hits around 9.5psi peak completely stock.

I heard VDO gauges rattle if you are pushing 15-20psi. The filter is to stop the rattling of your boost gauge. If you don't rattle then you don't need a filter.

nope, sorry. I'm sure that somebody on here does though.
I've got an autometer sport-comp and I'm 100% satisfied.
(As long as I don't go past 30psi!

I've got an autometer. As was posted above, some people used to put a little filter, or an aquarium check valve even, in-line with the vaccuum line to prevent the VDO's from rattling. I didn't need it.
Mine cold idles at around 18inHg, max boost of around 7-8psi. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Running a Autometer Phantom 30vac/30psi gauge on the steering column. My car is doing 22vac at idle, 25vac on coasting down in gear, and 11vac at cruise control set at 80mph. Boost spike is around 19psi and holds around 16psi till 4700rpm, then goes down to 10psi by 6250rpm.

I'm running an Apex'i gauge and like it. I matches the color of my dash and fits really well where I installed it. On a stock (no chip yet) 2002 Passat I get 11psi peak and it tapers off to about 6-7psi until redline.
