Boost Gauge

837 Views 8 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  AxeAngel
We had one in our 98 1.8T and found it really helpful. I would like to put one in my 2002 but I do not want to drill in the a-pillar and can't due to the airbag and I can't put it there due to safety. (accident or wreck) Does anyone have one now and can give me info on it. My interior is tan leather and my car is a sleeper. I'm not into the fire extinguisher and giant tac look. There is a proper place for all those things.

Re: Boost Gauge (Al Fresco)

yes, I agree I think a digital guage would be best mount somewhere near the center guages. Have you seen this:

www.dakotadigital.com I have see these gauges on several cutsom applications and they look sweet. Another guy on this forum posted an idea about mounting it behind the cluster in the trip computer area.
Re: Boost Gauge (Al Fresco)

I had a Blitz Dual Turbo Timer/Digital Boost guage that I just sold. I mounted like the one found on http://www.swankmonkey.com/turbotimer/ - The guage itself is no longer black like the photos there show, it's now silver. If you are looking for a digital boost guage and a TT, this is the way to go (in my opinion). I've since changed my set-up to a Apexi Turbo Timer, and I am going to be doing an analog gauge on the a-piller. After doing some research I've decided that one guage in a pod at the very bottom of the a-pilar shouldn't cause problems as the pillar splits open so far up for the bag to deploy. Still, it's a risk, so it's kind of a personal choice. There really is no right answer to the question of whether or not it's safe because there are so many variables involved. You can check out that dual guage at http://www.blitz-na.com Feel free to email me if you have any question about install or the part itself.

Have you thought about putting it where the little storage compartment above the radio is. I have all three of my guages there and they look very nice.

Re: Boost Gauge (2slow4u)

SPP A-pillar. You can put it on your a-pillar even if you have side curtains. And as stated many times before, the way the airbag deploys won't send the gauge flying at your head. Many people have the boost gauge on their a-pillar that has side curtains.
