I am headed to Germany next week for 11 days, and am seriously considering picking up some bora headrests for my Jetta. I have beige leather, and was wondering if anyone had the part numbers for these headrests. Does anyone have Bora headrests installed? Do you like them? I think the open loop ones would look much better than the ones in the stock Jetta!
Thanks!! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Didn't someone say that there's an odd metal piece at the base one of the poles on the NB headrest? Come on...someone has to have a NB that could check

The difference is, that the nb headrests for the front seats wont go all the way down because of the airbag mechanism.. But you can put the rears from the nb in the front of the jetta/gti, and the fronts in the rear.. Do a sort of flip/flop swap... It really looks great. But you lose height adjustability as far as locking in place. They just slip in and out

i was talking to Komet155 about getting me some for my jetta from germany. i wanted the black cloth ones and he said that the NB headrests match the part number of the bora headrests. now of course this may not help you out if you have the leather because i didnt talk to him about leather. Ask him, he would be able to tell you. i really want to get these as well, the dealer told me they were $$100. thats a bit more than i would like to spend on headrests. maybe a group buy will happen or something.

There are SOME of the interior codes that match on the US Jettas and the EURO Boras in regards to interior codes.
Now what is the price? $100 ? for one? or?

I think the $100 is for each beetle headrests. The Bora headrests are very expensive. I think someone looked it up in Austrailia, and it worked out to be more. But no cutting is required.

oh that was $100 just for one headrest.
was i wrong or komet wrong in saying that the nb headrests were the same as the bora ones?
what was that about you had to do some cutting?

quote:

They are different. The NB headrests require you to cut off part of the posts to make it fit properly. I think they look slightly different too. They're flattened at the top part.

Well I thought so!!

Mail me I am HERE IN Europe and willing to help out if I can!
But the FIRST thing you should do is check your INTERIOR code on your car cuz there is not a 100% match on all interior codes between US and Europe.
Btw here are a few pics I made for you my friends...from a Euro spec Jetta (Bora) Wagon from my dealer (my second home
)

Re: Bora Headrest Questions (Cullen)

MY THEORY:
The NB and the BORA use the same mechanism for retention of the headrests. The JETTA and the BORA do not use the same mechanism.
SUPPORT FOR MY THEORY:
If you look at the side of the front JETTA headrest, there is a button that you push to retract the pin at the base of the headrest. The NB/BORA hoop style headrest does not work this way. It appears to be more like the REAR Jetta headrests, where the pin is retracted by pressing a clip on the seat and not the headrest.
This differnce (the pin retraction being in the NB/Bora SEATS and not the headrest - like the JETTA) would also impact your ability to set height of the headrest.
RESULT:
It is my feeling, that because of this difference in the way the front seats retain the headrests, there is no point in getting the BORA headrests instead of the NB headrests (other than if you can find the BORA ones cheeper).

Re: Bora Headrest Questions (BoraVR6)

Thanx for the info!
Due to the cost of these parts its good to get a clear pic of what is what before someone buys something!
Now there is also the SHARAN here in Europe which also has these..but then you won't find matching interior codes perhaps..
