I've read many posts of personal accounts of cars backfiring after the installation of a BOV. Sure the BOV is installed after the MAF sensor and results in running rich (please correct me if I'm wrong - I'm not sure I have such a firm grasp on all this) and hence the backfiring.
Now, I was under the impression that one decent backfire from the engine could pretty much total the catalytic converter. Am I wrong here and have things evolved to the point where the cats are more resilient?
Just wondering.
