I've seen this on sounddomain in a "completed" form and i loved it.
imatation is a great form of flattery
now that I got that out of the way
my "artist" rendition of the box I am to build and install this weekend

(yes this is a dual layer'd box... on the right side its 5.5" high and the left its 7.5" high)
What do you guys think? 1.1ft3 of airspace per woofer (12" MBQuart DVC 4ohm) and room for amps & misc equip

Reminds me of this setup. As far as cubic space, get the correct specs from MB. Myself, I like to run each sub in its own seperate comparment. Reason being is two-fold.
1] If you want to run stereo, the subs will not always be pushing/pulling at the same time so you will have some degree of cancellation
2] If one sub fails, then you're stuck with an enclosure that's twice as big than the remaining sub needs.
With seperate enclosure you solve both problems. All you need to do would be to add a seperator wall between the subs.. you'll also gain a litle more in stiffness.
I think the design looks great. Just make sure it can all fit in the car before you build it... or build it in the car.
