Re: BRAKE DUCT? (josh holbert)

You'll have to get the lower lip for it also (it's about 3" thick instead of 2")...
You'll also have to cut a rectangle in the inner fender...
I've got them on my car, looks pretty cool, but I don't think they really cool down the brakes as they are pointed to the middle of the tire (mine is O.E.M.)... They should call them tire coolers

Re: BRAKE DUCT? (89 gli)

I just picked up a set of 16v GTX/GLi small bumpers with the lip spoiler & air ducts for my 86 Jetta. I thought about installing the brake ducts but after removing them from the donor car, I really couldn't see how they'd cool the brakes as mentioned above.
Must be something to do the way air flows around the wheelwell.

im gonna guess its just a for fun marketing gimmick, that helped the 16vs appear more sporty on the dealer lots back in the day

I got to admit... everyone is impressed when they ask why I have holes in my front lip and I reply: "They are factory brake coolers!"

Only few know the truth...
