looking for some comments ??
TT is cheaper 1/2 price of others but HEAVY weight NO calipers Boat Anchors
Wilwood looks to be a nice light weight 13 " twice the cost BUT you get awesome calipers!! Ultra Light
ESC kit is Porsch stuff (Brembo) Get calipers light
Stoptech look good but don't know much $$$ I think GET calipers light
well guys: it seems the Wilwood kit is a good bargain as you go 13" and get ULTRA light weight like 8 lbs a wheel lighter
Please comment on your experiences
I know the TT works well but that it is 4 lbs heavier
I won't buy Zimmerman Rotors THEY WARP

Re: Brake Upgrade: TT , Wilwood, Stop Tech, or ESC Kit ?? (2kjettaguy)

but... why does the weight of the calipers matter? it was my belief that low rolling mass was important, and therefore, only light rotors were needed since calipers dont spin.

stoptech is the way to go i hear. they're made specifically for our cars as opposed to the porsche brakes, and they have great performance numbers. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I tend to agree, considering you can get the whole TT Kit for about $380.

Here's a little bit better explanation...
Reduced unsprung weight is good because it allows the suspension to function more efficiently. Use an extreme analogy: Think about how a suspension works (springs/shocks)...they move up/down and are compressed/decompressed, etc. Now attach a good lightweight wheel and a brake kit with lighter-than-stock calipers. The suspension will work better. Now . . . attach heavier calipers and a set of HEAVY wheels...say 35lb. 19" wheels. There's more mass for the suspension to control. If you hit a bump, the momentum of the heavier wheel will prevent the suspension from keeping things on the ground optimally, for best traction, etc.
It might not be the best explanation...just trying to get the point across...

The TT setup is fine for the street. Yes you will gain about 4lbs per side but hey, we wouldn't put on 17-18inch rims if we were looking to save weight.
Good luck!

Call the guys at http://www.dieselgeek.com they sell the regular kit for $390 and will substitute drilled or slotted rotors for more $.
This is so much cheaper than any other brake upgrade that you can get a nice exhaust too to offset the 8 lbs of weight added. (or take a big dump before you drive your car.)

Not unless those 17's weighed less than the stock wheels.

BTW, try OEM Brembo's from the Seat Leon Cupra R... they even have the Brembo red calipers with the Brembo name! I forgot what size rotors but much bigger all around than the Audi TT.
