Brighter lighting?

Can I relay and add higher wattage bulbs to my U.S. Aeros without melting anything (like the relfector)? I dont have the extra cash to spend on euros, and I know this probably wont be as good, but I want more light and I dont want to buy some cheesey auxiliary lights. Also, if I can relay and use brighter bulbs, would it be safe to wire the highs and lows on at the same time? Or would that be too much heat?
At work today I uninstalled some driving lights from some car, and it just dawned on me how simple the wiring is, and another guy there was wiring up a cadillac so that the highs and lows were on at the same time. So thats where this idea is coming from.

Are your lights way old and pitted?
I got some BRAND NEW DOT aeros for "sister's golf" and ran the "overwatt" 9004 80/100 bulbs. (the car also has the mk3 wireing harness for lights...the screw apart ones) They work GREAT, better than i could have expected. I was/am really impressed. On that note, yes you should/could run better relays and wire, in fact, i recomend it even if you don't put overwatt bulbs in there. Now here is where the problems come in. The problems with 9004 overwatts is not that they can't handle it, or that the lense cannot handle it, or even the wires and relays in certain cases, it is the connector on the back of the bulb. Look at it, the contacts are tiny!!! H4s have big, old fassioned spade contacts that work well, 9004 has some newfangled crap! This is where the overwatts melt. So if you want to do like i am and take the risk (i have less to loose, like i said those headlight harnesses unscrew and i can just replace a small portion of the harness with little effort if they fry) then go for it. I have not had any probs in the 1 or 2 hrs that the car has been run with them on. Someone out there told me (a friend here in denver) that you can get upgraded 9004 connectors at my local honda club shop, but i have not had a chance to roll by there and check them out.

I have to agree, but since you said that you don't have the $$ for it now...
I don't want to sound like a DOT advocate(i reread my post
)...i hate them, ALL DOT lighting sux. EURO all the way. It directs light the way that is better and the cast for the glass(there is a name for it) is WAY better (that is why) than the DOT even for the aeros. Anyone have a side by side of them (DOT vs E.Code)?

If you fry your 9004 connectors you can get them at any discount auto parts store for only a few bucks.

My lights arnt pitted, they're fine. They bobble around a little
, but I just got new adjusters to put in. I could buy the euros, but I have other things (like finishing my rocco) to spend my money on. I just want something easy to do that will have some nice benefits. Thanks for the info though. I might look into those mk3 connectors.
