I saw an article in one of the latest magz about building your own exhaust. I was wondering if anyone would know which bends and lengths you would need? How long the muffler needs to be as well. Just pondering

Well, DBJ seems to have figured it out. But he would probably rather have you stick with his GB than give you the info seeing has much work and money he put into designing it. You probably should check with your local tuner shops and see if any of them do custom exhausts. But to get anything near as good as DBJ's system, you are going to have to find and order a flex section, a cat, a muffler, etc. And then the chance of having it not rub and fit correctly is probably pretty small. Plus, getting the whole thing up running in less than two weeks without a hitch seems like it would be a lot of work. I would say, stay with DBJ's group buy and hope he get's it done in time. Though, I may be biased since I'm in on it too.

Re: Build your own exhaust (Al Bob)

i had my custom 3" built at watson engineering in michigan using a thermal r&d muffler ($120) a slightly used atp 3" downpipe and cat ($250) and a custom mid pipe($175, with assembly of all pieces and install)
$545, no rubbing and all smiles!!
btw, it is all welded mandrel bent stainless

Re: Build your own exhaust (arewethereyet?)

I wouldn't build the downpipe or cat....i am talking about a catback. I can buy the pieces to build it. I was just wondering if anyone knew which bends to use and how long they need to be. Bug_Power????

any reputable muffler shop or fabricator could build an exhaust for you..i am fortunate to have an awesome fabricator who can build just about anything(yeah a real MacGyver LOL) but any good muffler shop could build it for you..OR you could get Forced Motion http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif or any of the other cat backs for about the same price as building one....

I BOUGHT 1 bend it was a 110deg bend that I cut to the right angle for my side exit. really that bend 1 other and then some bends for over the axle are all you need I'd say that if you got 4 180's bends you should probably be okay, but I'm not real sure.

What the blazes would you need a 180 degree bend for? A rat maze? Did you mean 90 degrees?

Hey Bug to do the side exit exhaust, did you do anything special to keep from getting the fuel cell to hot.( I saw you post something about probs with it)
Also, did you have to make your own exhaust hangers??
