I have posted a question about a thunk and extra bumpiness coming from the rear of my weitec TX'd 2001 1.8T. My bf told me that I may be hitting the bumpstops if they were not cut....I didn't know anyting about that, and my mechanic usually works on porsches so I don't know if he would know to cut them. Bf says that it is "just assumed" that he would.
my point" Who has the 30mm weitec kit (either or, I guess) and cuts their bumpstops. Should I check mine and get them cut???

If you drop the car you need to cut down the factory bumpstops (exc. inv. bilstein struts), or replace them with celastos.

I don't know about that on the MKIV's H&R actually suggests that you DON'T cut the bumpstops. take a look at the top of your spring it may be hitting the car's underbody this has happened to me before and I had to actually grind down some excess welding that was getting hit.

For Eibach Pro-Kits/Damper, it comes with a front bump stop, it looks a bit shorter than the stock one. For the back, they don't recommend to cut it.

Any idea how much shorter? Is it differently shaped too or will cutting off the stock bump stop achieve the same results?

what part of the underbody might my spring hit? It fits into a little space at the top and bottom that holds the 1st coil's worth---wouldnt it only occupy/touch that part of the car?
I think my rears might be too tight (light in the back, very stiff). I may wait a week. Then loosen the rears, and if that's still not enough, I may go to the GT kit. The noise makes me crazy~!

I can't really tell how much different between them (in terms of numbers) because I haven't compare the two side by side, but the shape is pretty much similiar.

Try to get under the car while its on the ground and look at the springs, you'll see that they come VERY close to a point on the underbody thats where I'm talking about you'll want to keep an eye on that location if your getting a knocking in the rear.
