It's supposed to be angled like that.
If it were flattened out, it will lock itself on to the post and remain open all the time.

Really huh... the diagram in Bentley makes it look like its straight.

n/p. FYI, I sometimes run a BOV on my car. That means I have a second TB with a sealed boost return butterfly.
The way I seal them permanently? I close it and then flatten out the piece you highlighted.

Then I JB Weld the crap out of it. lol.
