I hate to bail on the truck but my car that I was driving (79 spitfire)
while working on the truck puked it's throwout bearing. With finals and
job hunting I don't have time to even work on one of them and my wife
likes the spitfire (and summer is about here). So I'm reluctantly going
car/truck shopping and have to make room. Here's the scoop:
The body is in decent shape (it's red), the interior is decent (black).
It has a step rear bumper, New axles pads clutch/pressure plate and
tires, recent battery, rebuilt cylinder head, rebuilt steering rack,
upper and lower braces, and it was running when I started working on
it. The engine and trans are from an 84 GTI but the number 2 cylinder
is burning lots of oil (compression is good), all the seals are new on
the engine. The trans is hardly worth mentioning as it is waiting to
die, I was planning on getting another one from u-pull it for $90, but
it was still turning the front wheels last I knew.
It *can* be made to run, but not by me anytime soon, the header will
have to be bolted back on and the timing belt re-installed and hoses and
stuff. It is at the point where all you have to do is remove the
cylinder head bolts to get the head off and see why it's burning oil.
If you have $300 and the time, it can probably be made back into a fine
little truck for another $200. It comes with clean title.
It also comes with the following spares:
84 cis-e injection system (pump, injectors, distribuor, computer, etc)
80 radiator
84 distributor

Clue #1. It is December in Illinois.

Clue #2. The posting date.
Just a guess, but I'd say this thing is long gone.

You never know; the guy may still have it and just rehashed an old post.
One of the things I don't like about internet postings is that they rarely have an "expiration date." You really have to look closely to see if it is still valid.
