So my uncle and I were at the dealership, 'cause the lease on his Blingscalade is coming to an end, and he's considering an SRX..
Well, just out of curiosity, I pulled the door handle on one:

and what do I find? Oh snap!

It's unlocked! So I make myself comfortable, and look in the centre console:

Hm, there's something in there...

Ruh roh....but look what time it is!

Dealership is certainly closed, and yet...

What came next?
I locked it and left

When I was young I worked at a dealership detailing cars and you would be so suprised at the amount of cars with the keys left right in the ignition unlocked.

Yup, with the valet key, you should be able to only open the door and start the car - cant' open the glove, or the trunk. But I wonder how that would work with an SUV, considering one can access the rear through the back seats.

that was only in the ZR1, it cut off half of the fuel injectors and cut down the power. but it didn't depend on the key, itself, there was a switch on the dashboard and it could only be activated with the master key.

alot of car lots, especially used car lots leave the car doors unlocked all the time, not usually with the keys in them though. they say, if someone wants something from inside the car, i.e. the radio, they'd rather just have them open the door and take it then to break the window to get in. it saves on insurance claims.

Naw, I remember specifically reading a story from a Z06 owner about his valet key.

A service manager of a local Porsche dealer left keys in 10 new Porsches. A 911 Turbo was stolen in broad daylight.
The Lexus dealer down the street called them and told the sales guys to 'tone it down a notch' on the test drives after seeing the car fly past.
