CAI installed - problem w/"check engine" light

595 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  amadeusb12
I just installed the Evo CAI about 10 days ago and it's awesome. In the last couple of days the check engine light has been on. Is this something I can only fix by hooking it up to the VAG computer? Should I assume it's because of the CAI and that it's probably the MAF sensor, even though there was a delayed reaction? Does anyone else have this problem?

was the filter still wet from the oil?? because the oil can damage the MAF I would clean it and give it a couple of days.

Clean the MAF sensor? With alcohol and a Q-tip? Do I just unsnap the 2 parts and clean the little metal connectors inside?

i wouldn't use a q-tip.
a big zip-loc back full of the 90% isopropal and you're golden.
check out the DIY thread at the top.

I checked out the post, looks pretty simple to do. Thanks a lot.
Will the light hopefully go off automatically or do I maybe need to go and have it reset?
