Allright, to all the CL-ers out there, let's chat.
I am looking into an exhaust for my powerhorse. Since I don't want, or necessarily need the full cat-back system (as my current exhaust is merely months old), I am just looking into mufflers.
I was thinking a nice stainless Borla SS muffler with dual tips. Does anyone have this setup ? I was wondering what it sounds like ? High and whiny like hornets, or nice and throaty like a veedub should sound ?
I was reviewing previous threads, and the 2.0L 8v guys where exclaiming the merits of this system, so that's why I've chosen it. But I want CL input before any final decisions.
Also, will the muffler made for the 2.0L 8v GTi fit onto the CL ? Or do I have to get a CL custom one ? I haven't measured my exhaust piping, but 2.25" seems about right. Am I correct ?

The stock CL piping is small, maybe even smaller then the GL, but that dont mean isht because even if the muffler has a 2.25" opening they can weld it right in. The VR6 pipes are 2.25, ours are probably in the 1.5-1.75 range, but I could be wrong. Any Golf/GTi muffler will fit, my exhaust is from a 8v GTI, and it sounds good. Its no VR, but it doesnt sound like a bumble bee being chased by a lawn mower

It will pretty much sound similar to what it sounds on a 2.0L.
