I'm looking into getting these for the summer. TireRack recommends 17X8 (I want to keep the factory rim/tire ratio and run with 225-45-17)....is this too wide for a 2002 Jetta? (Longbeaches are 17X7) Are they prone to bending/warping? or are they strong. Thanks for any info.

since you seem rather new, have you noticed the "wheels and tire forum"?
its under technical.
Try there, and check the email box, cuz it can move pretty slow.

i'm thinking of getting them too. they will fit. i believe the widest you can go without rubbing is 8.5 or 9. the wheel wells are pretty deep, you can tell by looking at the back wells.

I have the Superleggeras in 18x8. I did bend one of them. I hit a pothole that I couldn't avoid going about 55mph (traffic was too heavy on the freeway to swerve), and it bent my wheel.
I am currently riding on my stock Avus wheels...and even if I do get that wheel replaced I'm not sure I'll put them back on my car...I'm too paranoid to hurt them again.

superleggera are pretty strong wheels.....get 17 by 8...and u're fine...unless u drop your car more than 1.8inchs......then it will rub if u do a very quick U turn...make sure also u got shocks that are stiff enough....and I always put about 35lbs of air in them for performanc....make sure u put no less than 33lbs of air in the front...or you can bend the lip if u hit a hole....

yeah those suckers are strong, but my roommate, who really should not operate a vehicle, went into a curb while trying to do donuts in his '00 Integra Type R with 17" Superleggeras and cracked one. he must have been doing around 25 or so, and one of the spokes is cracked. he's a moron, what can i say.

quote:

Hey I have a question, can you use the stock lug bolts with these? I had to go to lug studs and lug nut with my Enkies. Major PITA.

I'm not sure. On mine have longer lug nuts due to the spacers I have in the back.

I bought the O.Z. Cronos Evos in 17x8. So pretty much the same thing except for the styling. They fit just fine. Tire Rack won't sell them to you if they don't. And they include the lugs if you need them so you don't have to worry about that (if you buy from Tire Rack that is).
