Can someone link me to a process of removal and cleaning the cam phaser on the 3.6l? It seems mine is not functioning properly or something and I'd like to remove it and see if it can be saved.

Does the engine need to be removed to access it?

Car currently runs but isn't running right and I was told it's the cam phaser.

Bought the car for the engine so hoping this isn't a giant rebuild type of fix...hah

Do you mean the VVT solenoids? Variable Valve Timing solenoids...

I had a friend who has disassembled his phasers and cleaned them. I’ve never seen any write ups on the job.

nice! yes looking at cleaning mine and seeing if there is damage, Previous owner said that it was bad and at over $800 to replace I figure cleaning is worth a shot. Car has all new chains/guides etc so this is the next item to look at for a rough/surging idle I think and loss of power like the timing is out a tooth.
