Cams ? 256 or 248 for S?C or Turbo car
I'm not a engine guy . I'm currently running a stock VR6 with stage 1 Z S/C .
I thought you shgould go with a 248 cam to get short duration , is this correct . Z says you should run a 256 , I thought 256 was very close to stock cam ?

Either stay with the stock cams or use the 248 cams. From what I can gather the 248 cams are ideal for supercharger applications and either the stock cams or the 256 cams are suited for turbocharged applications. I hope that helps.

Anyone else ???

I cant remember where, but I saw good numbers on a Z-eng with 256's. The 248 Schricks are better suited for turbos.

I personally think the 248 is a better forced induction cam thats why I am using it but Z eng, DSR and Garrett got together to make a specific chip for the 256s that makes nice power so that may end up being your best bet as there is no custom chip for the 248s for the Z kit and I doubt they will ever make one. Hope that helps ya decide

I have always heard 248's are better for S/C. Thats what I have, they improve your tourque before the boost takes over.

Do the 256's they were proven on my car, I hit 258whp with only 6.5 to 7lbs of boost call DSR. Why go 248's when you have a special chip already for the 256 set-up. This is a proven set-up!

I ran the 248s with my Z kit. Torque down low was drastically improved.
If I were you, I'd stick with DSR 256 cams since the GIAC is matched to work with them. Proven hp #s.

I think the 248's would be good for turbo. But like most say. The 256's would work well w/ the Z kit. And you can get a chip that is tuned by Garret ....You cant beat that combo....
Re: Cams ? 256 or 248 for S?C or Turbo car (GTI VRsick)

Matrix is still doing some cam testing on their stage I turbo kit. Torque and hp increased(8hp and 11 ftlbs, I think) with the 248 vs. stock cams on my Corrado. Can't wait to see what the 256s and 260/264s do.
