Can anyone help??!! Brake problems...

I hear a slight screeching noise from the rear passenger wheels right before i come to a complete stop. Does anyone know the cause of this noise? I've had my car since december of 99' and now have a lil over 37,000 miles. I have not done the brakes yet on my car...could this be the reason? Also the stealership wants $480 to get all my brake pads changed!! Seems a little steep to me...can anyone recommend a different place for a lot less money but good quality service?

go round the back of the car and have a look at the discs. Are they scored? is the 'lip' excessive? you could also take the wheel off and l-o-o-k? at the pads

Can someone help?? So when should the pads be changed? After how many miles?

It all depends on how hard you drive the car...... Some people may need to change the break pads after 5000 miles and then someone who does all highway driving could change them after 60,000 miles.... Your best bet is take the wheels off one at a time and see what the pads and rotors look like...
